Art in Plain Sight
Art is found all around us. You don’t need to live in a big city or in a grand landscape to fine something to photograph. What I present here will be a dynamically changing gallery of photographs that I can expand on a continuing basis and improve with additional details and stories behind the images.
To get a unique picture, you might try placing the camera in a position that most people would never be. If you’re up high, like on a pedestrian bridge, shoot straight down at the people underneath. Or get down at ground level. Use a wide angle lens to exaggerate objects in the foreground or wide open apertures on fast lenses to throw the background out of focus. Get up close so you can include the interesting part of a subject and eliminate the dull busy nonessential parts. Use a slow shutter speed for pictures with moving vehicles, people, animals, water, or tree branches.
Leave a comment about your own experiences in creating art by photographing the mundane in ways that grab the attention of the viewer.
